The American "Majority"...

    Don't you just hate people? I mean they make no sense to me. I'm normally a pretty calm fellow, albeit off the wall sometimes, but some people are just... beyond belief when it comes to stupidity and the like. Namely, the guy running the country and his puppet master. Now, for those of you who didn't know, I love to talk politics- I can go on for hours and hours about why someone's screwing up this country. Bill Clinton didn't do too much to, Reagan didn't do TOO much to, but every president with the Bush surname has screwed up our nation in one way or another. Various other politicians have contributed as well, but because good ole Dubya's our figurehead until 2008, I figured I'd complain about how his reign has been one of terror.
    Now, I'm not blaming him for 9/11, but there are very many ways he could've prevented it. He received briefings roughly a month before the attacks that said that (Osama) bin Laden was planning on attacking the United States and yet he did nothing. Okay, sure, we'll let that slide as old news because our good pal Michael Moore already said something about it. Now, don't get me wrong, I like Michael Moore but because his credibility is questioned on an almost daily basis, we'll try to steer away from him. Now then, before Clinton left office (or he was impeached for getting a BJ ) he had a little bit of intelligence that told him where Osama bin Laden was and that he could be captured and whatnot, however he didn't take action- why? Because America didn't really want to get involved in the Middle East at the time (it seems). This information (I assume) was passed on to the Bush administration when he took office... this kind of disproves my theory that George is a trigger-happy redneck, because he (once again) didn't take any action. Now, maybe Clinton was trying to keep his streak of "eight years with general peace and a booming economy," but even I, the most liberal of people you'll probably meet in this city, would've taken action against him. George Bush, like Clinton, did not. In hindsight, maybe it would've been a better idea to actually pay attention to the briefings, but since no one likes to do that, let's just launch other, unjustified wars on a pack of lies to make our party look good and give our country back our "hero" status. I support the war on terror, I really do, but the war in Iraq is not a part of the war on terror, I don't care what anyone else thinks. It is a war to spread the Christian religion, to wipe out Muslims, and to get Halliburton more money. All of these, I am very opposed to.
    This atrocity is costing us over a billion dollars- now, as if the American people weren't frustrated financially as it was, we have to pay an arm and a leg for gas. Now, last time I checked, over one-hundred billion dollars is a lot of money- that may not be a problem to people like Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, and Lars Ulrich, but there's one thing that's different with them- they care. George Bush crashed two oil companies when he was younger, and with the way he's running the United States now, we're on a crash course, too.
    I know Saddam Hussein was an evil man, and I'm glad he's out of power, but that's probably the only good thing that's come from this war. Over twenty thousand people have been killed in this war. Approximately two thousand American soldiers and approximately twenty thousand Iraqis. If you ask me, it wasn't Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda causing the growing number of terrorists in the middle east, it was the United States. I love this country and I would die for it if need be, but I do not condone actions taken by our government to produce new terrorists- don't tell me you wouldn't be just a little vengeful if your family was killed in an attack by a nation your government's never even threatened, it's exactly what happened with 9/11... we were attacked by al Qaeda, who (and I'll give you this) were not a nation, but we apparently felt the need to bomb a general area to get rid of the problem.
    If you ask me, generalizing is something this nation is good at, too. After 9/11 many Muslims were discriminated against and called terrorists just because the hijackers were of Muslim descent... now, if you ask me, that's not right. If my memory serves me correctly, the Declaration of Independence STILL reads, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
    In closing, our nation needs a nice little reality check. In the Iraqi's eyes, we are terrorists. In our eyes, they are terrorists. But if you dig deeper, you shall see that neither are terrorists and the only thing to provide the world with even more terrorists IS this war. There are tests that have proven this. I will continue opposing this war until the day I die, but my unwavering support for the troops and the ability for people to have freedom of thought and freedom of speech will remain.
