IRAN

Recently, an interesting topic was brought up on the Metallica message boards about how we (the United States of America) may go to war with the nation of Iran over the issue of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and because there are some that say Iran's new president was a former captor in the Iran incident during the 70's. Anyways, here's my liberal view straight from those boards.

Well- Bush has killed over 38,000 people in Iraq (Iraqi civilians and American troops), should that make him a terrorist? I mean, sure, people choose to sign up for the army knowing full well the risks, but when the Iraqi equivalents to you and I are killed because of a "justified" war, it just makes me sick to my stomach. If America were to invade Iran it would mean more unnecessary deaths among civilians and even less terrorists brought to justice.

Does Iran have nuclear weapons? Well, like in Iraq, there is some speculations about it (so says Wikipedia). But also, as in Iraq, I think that the U.N. should investigate it first just so we can be sure. We didn't let them complete their duties in Iraq and we've still yet to find any weapons of mass destruction. Now we're in shit up to our elbows because A: we've "liberated" Iraq and now we have to wait around for their government to build up strength because B: the nation cannot defend itself at the moment. If we want another Iraqi war where we send our men and women to fight a war we're destined to lose in the long run I say go right ahead, but George Bush should be impeached directly after the first troop sets foot in Tehran.

Oh, and happy fourth of July.
